Woke up early and wrote a short story that's really sad and semi-lesbian. I want to submit it somewhere but nothing pays << bleh. Maybe I should just put it on deviantart or something.
Actually I'll put it up under a friends-only entry, so if you want to read and critique, log in. Don't nitpick it to death though, Michael. x.x

Dead Or Alive - "Fan the Flame (Piano Medley)" |

Awwwwwwmigosh, I am so tired...
...Um. I offer my apologies for not having any comic pages for you guys this week, and relatively little else. This is kind of a crazy time for me. My sister's wedding was last week, and all the fam'ly was in town for the event. (It was a lovely service. My sister was Wedding Barbie. It was adorable, yo.) I caught the bouquet. Yes, there has been much heckling. Also, I am told my father's face was priceless.
I leave in a few hours (I shall really have to try to sleep tonight) to go off with m'darlin' boyfriend too see all of his family for another wedding reception, and upon returning, I shall nigh immediately be hopping on a plane to California, to make my annual pilgrimage to the San Diego Comic Con! Hooray! I get to spend a whole week with my best friend, the Cowhat Ninja! I'm very excited. (Q: Are you gonna have a booth? A: Not this time. I'll be doing this one on foot, trudgin' around with my extremely heavy portfolio.) If you and I should be meeting up in the hallowed land of sun, sea, and stormtroopers, send me an email before Monday night!
Uh...In addition to all of that, I've been undergoing some other life changes. Um...wish me luck with things, eh?
ANYWAY! Here's some drawings I did this week:

...Yeah, not much. But! Something else that is neat! I was so delightfully surprised to receive a piece of fanart from the very kind and awesome KageRio! It's a drawing of Hermes, looking so cute and so happy and it's impossible not to smile when looking at this! I love it! <3

Hmm...Well, I've also posted some poetry online. Just three pieces I've had sitting around for a while. You can read them, if you like.
I can't wait to see some of you in San Diego. If you're not gonna be there, I would refer you to some diversion for the week we spend apart, the diversion in question being the short story by Joyce Carol Oates from whence I've drawn this news post title.
Take care, everyone! I love you all!

Holy shit this girl is, um, confident. Which is just hilarious, because she sucks. Every time she says stuff like "I'm a really great writer," I'm intensely glad it's only IM text, or she'd see me trying not to laugh. Blaaaaaah......

I am currently writing on my smartphone from the jacuzzi of the bed and breakfast I am staying at in Ithaca. A and I wanted to do a weekend getaway to a not too distant and yet not too near locale. After much fierce debate, we settled on Ithaca, NY. For her, it was the nature. For me, it was the wineries and vineyards.
A and I rented a car and got up here with surprisingly little difficulty. We stopped at a reststop next to the epitome of small town, USA where everyone knows your name. There was one main strip of stores and restaurants that seemed frozen in the 90's. We stopped at a cowboys and indians themed cafe called Buffalo Zacks. It was a truly bizarre interior decorating experience and the coffee there was wretched. Oh well.
We arrived at our b&b shortly after and were greeted by the very friendly hosts. After getting settled, we headed over to a local waterfront restaurant suggested to us and ate steak. Then we hit downtown Ithaca, which was small and mostly closed by the time we got there. Undaunted, we got delicious dessert at a cafe called Lost Dog and then swung by the gas station to pick up some beer to drink back in our rooms because we are old and boring and easily tired. The selection of beer was interesting; some local brewery drinkd and a lot of Canadian beer. We decided on a Canadian one called Blue which is not bad.
Tomorrow we will sight see and partake in nature as per A's request. I will suffer in stoic silence.

OK, so I decided to go to the doctors/emergency tonight for them to take a gander at me and tell me what was what since I've progressively felt worse (as far as my throat is concerned) over the last week.
The kicker is, I was still at least 65% sure it wasn't strep, but figured I'd let them check just in case. I also knew that even if it came back negative, they were still going to treat it as if it were positive since symptom wise, it at least screams strep.
So I get there and park. I walk in and they have me fill out a cute little one page quick info thingie and I wait. Not too long after that, they call me over and weigh me, ask me some more questions about allergies to meds, etc and then band my wrist and put me through to the back.
They sit me in this little 3 walled room with a curtain and proceed to tell me that someone will be by shortly and that *pulling a small screen over on a multi-jointed arm* this thing is a TV.
o.o
I am not going to watch TV in the ER. It is not my home. I do not plan on staying long enough to care about a TV show. Moving on.
The next one comes in and takes my insurance info, asks some more questions and then goes poof.
Another one comes in a few minutes later and attempts to take the strep culture. Drops the stick. Gets another and proceeds to try to gag me with the stick. I spend the next 10 minutes coughing. MMMM
Insurance card is brought back to me by the one who took it. Reminds me about TV. I smile.
Yet another one comes in, asks some questions, asks if the culture was done and lets me know that she is going to prescribe some kind of steroid to help with the inflammation. She then listens to my lungs and goes poof herself.
After some time, YET ANOTHER of the what is now quite obviously an all female emergency room staff, comes in to give me the steroid shot. She claims she is good at this. I know that if you're good, then you don't need to advertise it. She alkie pads me, waits until it evaps enough so it won't burn then proceeds to stick me with her needle. She is done, pulls it and says, "Whoah, hey you seem to be a bleeder." I didn't have the heart to tell her that no, it was her double pump on the plunger that caused a wee bit of a vacuum so when she pulled the needle that it made me bleed more than it should have. I gleefully apply pressure as I feel the muscle in my arm enjoying its new found stiffness. I remove the cover as she goes to band-aid me and poof, look-it that, no more bleeding. I then confirm the need to move my arm and as an after thought she agrees that it will be a good idea. Riiiiiight.
After some time the one who listened to my lungs comes back, confirms that steroids have been administered, let me know that the strep test takes about 30 minutes to run from the time that the lab gets it, makes sure I'm doing ok, and then reminds me about the TV. I smile. then check my email on my phone.
After a good while she comes back and lets me know that the test came back negative and DUNDUN-DUNNNNNN, they are still going to treat it like strep and prescribe the strep medicine I can take, Zothphromaximillion or some shit like that. I nod and wait for the girl to come back with my papers.
Throat culture girl comes back to give me my note for the drug dealers and I ask if these happen to be the horse pills. She says shaking her head, "Nnnnnnnyeah, yeah they are." Yeah, I know their game inside and out. She then directs me to how to leave and I go.
Or so I thought.
See the place I parked now has a gate blocking my path to my car. I head back into the ER. Sitting at the desk now is a nice young gentleman security type person with a half smirk on his face. This bastard knows. More importantly, I think he knew as I walked out of that summmabish. I inform him that I have parked in a location that now appears to be "inaccessible" to which he smiles broadly and directs me to how I can get in to the place and that the gate will open as I drive up to it.
I escape the place.
So in short, I knew the outcome ahead of time, but I went anyway so people can't complain that I never went to the doc. The experience wasn't all that unpleasant given that the ER -was- all women and cute ones at that. Still not going to watch their TV though.

Long day. Not bad day at work, though.
arekhon is really off hiking. Too bad it's raining!
My mom came to get me from work, because even if I did have a license, arekhon still has the car. She stayed for a bit after dropping me off. And arekhon's mother came upstairs as well. . . But she left before my mom did.
*sigh*
I'm really not looking forward to sunday. I'm going to be here by myself, and arekhon's mother will be downstairs all by herself. . . And she thinks that she is going to come upstairs and "help me make a surprise" by helping me clean the house. Yeah. . . I don't think so. Not if I can help it. Tomorrow won't be bad, I'll be gone all day to class, and then off to game that night ( eruvanna, i'll see you 'round 8:30?) I can't stay here, even if I'm exhausted, I think she is going to try to "help" me. And I don't think I can take it.
We'll see!
Oh, and there's a new comic up. It's part of a new batch that was colored via computer! I think I may be doing that for a while. It takes longer, but it's still lazier in the long run.
Nothing else today. Wish me luck on class tomorrow!!

I've played a few booster drafts and in only one sealed deck tourney and I got smashed. I know removal is key and I didn't get much, but I think I just got a little overwhelmed. I'm playing in a Sealed Deck M10 tomorrow and I just wanted to see what tips and trick you guys could offer up. Thanks!

Sigh, again I attempt to play with a sucky RPer just so I can get in some RP, and again it's more pain than it's worth trying to interpret their crap... I mean, really. Why do so many RPers suck so badly at writing? THAT'S ALL YOU DO in novel-style RPing...how can they even enjoy it if it uses up all their limited braincells just figuring out how to spell 'favorite'??
